SKSP Founding Partner Elected Chair of ADR Section

SKSP is proud to announce that Melvyn J. Simburg has been elected Chair of the Washington State Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. He will hold the position of Chair for a two-year term.

The ADR Section promotes the informed use and best practices for dispute resolution processes in Washington State.

The ADR section welcomes all ADR professionals: mediators, arbitrators, and lawyers representing and advising their clients. You don’t have to be a lawyer or a member of WSBA to participate.

The WSBA Alternative Dispute Resolution Section hosts an interactive, content-driven website — the online network of ADR professionals. It is the source for relevant, current dispute resolution information in Washington:

   - Share information and engage in professional discussions in the  Forum

   - Learn about conferences and seminars on the Events   section

   - Connect with colleagues in Groups   focused on specific ADR subjects like Arbitration, Foreclosure Mediation or Land Use

Every professional engaged in mediating, arbitrating or negotiating is an ADR professional and the ADR Section welcomes and encourages participation of all ADR professionals.

As Chair, Mel will preside at all meetings of the Section Executive Committee and the Section membership. The Chair also leads the Section’s campaign to increase member participation in the Section. The “Outreach” Campaign is intended to involve more members from a variety of geographic areas, reach more young practitioners, and obtain participation from underrepresented groups.

Mel is excited to collaborate with ADR professionals across the spectrum and welcomes your questions and comments. You can reach him via email at

Mel has extensive experience as a mediator, arbitrator, and litigator in IP disputes and in protecting and licensing IP internationally.
